Riverbend TOD is redevelopment of 13 acres of brownfield lands for a mix of medium intensity market and non-market housing, sensitively transitioning from the existing low-density development in the community of Riverbend to future higher intensity South Hill Green Line Station Area.
The MU-1 multi-residential will provide affordable housing on currently vacant city-owned lands to help meet Calgary’s current housing needs and to create a critical mass of transit-supportive development. 2-3 storey ground-oriented R-CG residential and open space along the existing low density residential in Riverbend to the west will create a sensitive interface. A sense of arrival and placemaking is achieved through the central park framed by street-oriented residential and high-quality urban design.
PlanningPlus in collaboration with the Situated team carried out complex community engagement which included new transit and vehicular connections to the future Green Line station with successful approval of Land Use and Outline Plan for the project in 2024.
